Moore/Taylor & Associates was formed
in 1989 by R. Neal Moore, Jr. and J. Thomas
Taylor. The two principals had worked for
a large Greensboro appraisal firm for approximately
10 years and had gained experience in appraising
many different property types in North Carolina
and several other states. Now the company
concentrates on local properties, primarily
in Piedmont North Carolina.
The company now has a staff of eight including
two residential appraisers, four commercial/industrial
appraisers and two office staff. Our clients
include numerous banks and lending institutions,
law firms, accounting firms and government
agencies. The N.C. Dept. of Transportation
is a major client with respect to condemnation
appraisals for highway construction projects.
We are proud of the fact that many members
of our staff are members of the Appraisal
Institute. This is the worlds largest and
most prominent professional association for
appraisers with over 17,000 members in the
U.S. Tom Taylor served as President of the
NC Chapter in 2002 and has served in several
other capacities. Neal Moore served on the
Board of Directors and as a Regional Representative.
Three members of the firm hold either the
MAI or SRA designation with two being dual
designated. We encourage the other appraisers
to pursue an Institute designation as we
believe it demonstrates a dedication to excellence
in the appraisal field.
Sadly, on October 20, 2003, Neal Moore passed
away at the age of 51. He had a fairly short
bout with an extremely aggressive form of
cancer (melanoma) which had affected several
areas of his body. He was brave to the end.
We miss him terribly and will not be able
to fill the void left by his death. Moore/Taylor
& Associates will carry on in as normal
a way possible, as was his wish.
